Brushy Creek Elementary Celebrates 30 years!

This is a bit bittersweet to me because this is the school my boys used to attend before we moved to our new home.  Just a 10 minute drive away, and we pass it on our way to church each week.  They are celebrating their 30th year, and I got hoisted up in a firetruck bucket, got to take my son, and snapped this fun picture:

Cool, huh?  This is a rough version, I think I may edit out some of those shadows from the full sun.  Most everyone had on their gray school shirt.

Below is my older son who immediatelly opted out of the trip up in the air.  I first thought I’d take them both, but when he said he didn’t want to, I thought it would be easier to convince the nice firefighter to let me take just one “assistant” up:)

So up I went with son #2 (who felt SO cool that his former classmates could watch him go up there). The lady at the front was coordinating the efforts for the school, and the man is the firefighter.

I am grateful for a few friends below snapping pics for me….

Before we went up, my older son looked like he was going to faint.  It was a warm day at 1pm, so my friend offered for him to sit in her car in the AC.  Although I wanted him to video from below, I am glad he was comfortable and didn’t get too hot.  My friend Dona later told me that he changed the radio station to a rock station and she enjoyed rockin’ out to his selection after.

This little guy was pretty excited! I am so happy I got to share this with him.  

The PTA gave me some pretty sunflowers as a thank you.  These boys were warm and ready to go get some water.  I left my baby with a friend, and my kinder daugther at school (though I know she would have loved to go up).  I had to make a decision to not bring her…she is sortof a wild card.

It was a bit sad to see old friends and teachers and remember the 4 years we spent in the walls of that great school.  But, we are happy where we are, and its nice to be able to go back and visit from time to time.
