I am a big believer in wearing red and green to Christmas gatherings. It’s just against my own personal moral code not to. I’ve thrown in black, gold, or silver with just a touch of red or green sometimes, but you will never see me wear teal, orange, pink, or even turquoise to a Christmas event–even though I love those colors. I am LOVING the trend of hot pink and turquoise at Christmas, I even got those colors to decorate the tree in my girls room. But I just can’t do it in my holiday dress or in my main Christmas decor in my home.
Today I’m sharing a little “round up” if you will of the Christmas holiday fashion I’ve shared in the past two years, with links to the full posts.
But first, what I wore the other day, coordinating with my daughters. Starting with the red lipstick–if nothing else, try a little red lipstick at Christmas time. Add it to all black and you’re festive!!
I found this adorable dress at Target.com. It may be in stores also, but I saw it online. I am obsessed with the Peter Pan collar. And this dress LOOKED long enough for my liking, and I figured I could return it to my local Target if it didn’t fit right. (If you order over $50 you get free shipping, and I ordered a handful of things that I was trying out). It’s actually short sleeved, but it was FRIGID in Texas, so I put a long sleeved black shirt underneath, and I couldn’t even tell I had to do a make shift situation.
When I was trying to decide what shoes to wear with it, the idea popped into my head to finally buckle down and get some ankle boots. I pretty much hated them when they came out. I thought they looked weird, and was pretty sure I wasn’t going to follow that trend. But they’ve been growing on me, and I found this black pair at Target in store. I was texting my friend McKenzie from Girl Loves Glam, asking her 20 questions about ankle boots while I was out shopping. Next up–trying them with pants! Watch for it…
Once I decided on that, I knew I needed some tights, and the gold polka dot pair from Old Navy just SPOKE TO ME! I couldn’t find the exact pair online, but this is similar. I just found them in my local store last week. I wore this outfit to church, which starts at 8:00 AM. I woke up early and washed my hair, blew it dry, and threw hot rollers in it, pulling them out as we drove to church (and I ate my oatmeal at the same time). It was QUITE curly (maybe too much?) and these pictures are 3 hours later after we got home.
I found these fabulous dresses for my girls at Forever 21 for $7.90 each!!!! I and was going to save them for Christmas, but I decided to bust them out early to coordinate with me. I always love a good mother/daughter coordination;)
I just love these girls, and that they like to get fancy with me!
