Colorado & Utah Workshops

Ok, friends.  I’ve got lots to squeeze into this week, so buckle up! I just got back from a 2 week road trip where I drove with my fam from Texas to Utah and back. Did you know that to go straight north out of Texas, it took us about 10 hours just to get out of the state? And I’m in the middle!!!  We stopped off in Colorado Springs to visit and stay with some dear friends, and had a little mini workshop there with a few locals.

This was a week after my Houston workshop, and then a week later, I held another workshop in Utah with these lovely ladies:

In Utah, the workshop was held at a cute little shop in American Fork called Quincee’s Boutique. I took some shots of the store, to share how darn cute it is. You don’t even have to live in Utah to shop there. Some of their store items you can see on their facebook page (which they update more than their blog with new items) and call and order from them!

See this cuteness, I want to live here!

I came home with a bag full of goodies…

Here are a few images that I used from Jessica’s blog of me in action in Utah:

She did a fun little review, check it out here.

That wrapped up 3 workshops, 3 weekends in a row…it kinda wiped me out! Fortunately, I’ve got 2 weekends in between those and my final workshop for the summer in Alaska. I do love teaching them, and I love seeing people have lightbulb moments. I don’t have plans to add any other cities into 2012, but I do hold one on one skype mentoring workshops to those interested, and need a little more help beyond my books.

It was great seeing you and the picture of our workshop turned out great! Right now I’m looking forward to shooting fireworks on 4th of July. Although maybe we won’t have any because of the fires. =(

I am so glad we got to spend some time with you and your family. Thanks to you, I feel MUCH more comfortable using my manual settings now. The way you explain it just makes a lot of sense to me. Thanks for all you do! Love the blog!

You can totally check out my review post in the link above…but I cant say enough good things about this workshop and Kristen herself! One of my friends is already going to buy her book! Seriously, Kristen you are so awesome and the way you taught the workshop really helped the knowledge stick! I’ve been shooting in manual since! Thank you so much!

I bought Kristen’s book ‘Say NO to Auto’ fairly soon after I bought my nice camera and really tried going only manual but something was off. I felt slow and awkward trying to adjust all the settings. After sitting down in person with Kristen at her workshop, I realized how simple the process could be. Now I know which setting to adjust when and I’m getting much faster at it. I’m excited to further my photography journey shooting in only manual. Thanks Kristen!

Oh, how fun is this. I really enjoyed seeing the photos of you with the ladies in the two different workshops that you taught. That looks like fun. i’d love to participate in one.

The one on one Skyp mentoring sounds great, too.

I know I’ve asked this before, but would you tell me again what type of digital camera you use?

I’m getting together with a friend and her kids tomorrow. We’re just going to spend time together and have some fun. I’m bringing my camera with me and taking photos of the family…for free and for fun because I need the practice :) :)

Love andhugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather :)

    Busy, busy!

We just took a family trip with all the kids to Colorado a couple of weeks ago – stayed in Breckenridge & had a blast.

Mainly irrelevant comment – but up here in northern Minnesota.. I’m pretty far out of the loop when it comes to your workshop posts. The fact that we were both in Colorado closes the gap a little. ;)

Glad you had safe & successful travels!

I LOVED this workshop. (UTAH) Kristen, thank you. You are such an inspirational person and super sweet. This was just like you said. A BIG AHh-HA moment for me. I also think that your books are very useful. Thanks for the class. Thanks for traveling around and sharing your sweet self with everyone. So fun! Loved your alaska post too. So on my list to go there some day.

    Hi Kristen,
It looks like you had a blast coming out west last summer, any chance you’ll be back in Colorado in 2013?? Say No to auto looks like something that I could really use, especially trying to capture my 3 and 5 year old boys! Thanks for the blog and tips, I can’t wait to try the portrait windows!
