Today I’ve got a DIY Hashtag Halloween Costume along with 88+ DIY Halloween costumes! I’m teaming up with Jamie Dorobek and her handmade Halloween costume site, Really Awesome Costumes to bring you tons of easy ideas to craft up DIY Halloween costumes for everyone including your pets, family costumes, and even a trunk or treat idea!
Does your family talk in hashtags like mine? (please tell me you’ve seen the Justin Timberlake/Jimmy Fallon Hashtag video). My kids have really gotten into it, and we love the hashtag, so I thought it’d be fun to make one as a costume. It’s a simple, easy idea that can be done in 30 minutes or less, and great for someone who doesn’t really want to wear a costume.
Along with my Hashtag Costume, I’m sharing 88+ more really awesome handmade costume ideas from talented bloggers everywhere!
There really isn’t a whole lot of explaining needed to make the costume, just seeing it, gives the idea. I asked at Target if they had big boxes, and was brought a few to choose from. I traced and cut out my hashtag, then covered it in foil. It could also be painted. I then attached rope/yarn to both sides, to just drape over the shoulder. I thought about adding some wordstrips with popular #hashtag titles, but ended up preferring the classic, clean look.
A few years ago, I also made some no sew halloween costumes:
