Happy Halloween! Enjoy a little snippet of our fam, as we got dressed up last weekend for our church Fall Festival, our dry run for Halloween Night! I can’t ever miss an opportunity for a fun family picture, so we got a few pictures outside of our garage as we were heading out the door.
I’m kindof a procrastinator when it comes to costumes. I don’t make them, and this year we only bought one (son #2) and it was just a few hours before this picture! When I suggested the idea of the t-shirt phrase to my oldest, he thought it was a pretty cool idea (though I didn’t make it up, he thought I did, and I got some mom points there!) I stuck the letters on a few hours before, as well. Thinking he can wear the shirt for a few years (a tad big). Mom it’s from the bucket of orange shirts you gave us leftover from Disney! Then we’ve got the Zombie Rockstar costume borrowed from a friend. She really gets into the scary look, it’s fun! Youngest is what she calls a “spider” because of the headband (from Pier 1) but we got her cute candy corn dress at a recent trip to Savers Thrift Store. Though you can’t tell, I attached some spider legs to the black dress underneath.
I am what I like to call the “Spirit of Halloween” in my orange and black (dress I found at ROSS), with a fun head piece/fascinator I found at Pier 1. Skeleton jewelry also at Pier 1 (clearance prices on a few of these items). Mr. Duke was a referee to match my stripes (he is my boys soccer coach, so it seemed fitting).
My husband and I were actually asked to be in charge of our Fall Festival this year, which really just meant helping organize a team of people to get it all done. I had a great team, and we all enjoyed a chili cook-off, desserts, carnvial games for the kids, and a trunk-or-treat at the end.
Some haven’t heard of a Trunk-or-treat, it’s were you line up a bunch of cars, they open the trunks, and pass out candy. It’s so fun! I don’t get much into decorating my trunk, but I laughed when I came back from escorting our youngest to other cars to see Mr. Duke passing out candy with an orange extension cord draped over the trunk, with a jack o lantern bucket hanging. I love his creativity.
Even more funny is the car next to us won for best decorated trunk! It was filled with sand (on a liner) with a treasure chest inside filled with candy.
Bottom left picture is my husbands sister and her little fam. They’ve been living with us since July, helping out with projects around the house! My youngest and her friend hugging, and me with my girls that helped me prep the big event.
Here are just a few more pics of our family (because I can’t resist and this blog may be the only scrapbooking I ever do):
Hope you have a fun night where you are celebrating Halloween out getting some candy, staying in to pass it out, or just hanging out with your family. Any fun Halloween night traditions?
