Houston Say NO to Auto Workshop

June is crazy—I’ll have 3 workshops in a row the first 3 Saturdays.  Last weekend, I was in  Houston and held one there.  This Saturday I’ll be in Colorado Springs, and next Saturday I’ll be in Salt Lake City!  If you’re in those two spots, please email me ASAP if you’d like to join! For more info on the workshops, click on the orange frame above.

I had a great group join me in Houston, with lots of great questions and conversation. I think the best part about a group workshop is the questions from everyone that get answered.

A few of me in them were taken by an attendee…

Please email me as soon as possible (or leave a comment on any posts) if you’d like to attend Colorado Springs, Salt Lake City, or Anchorage (in July). More info on those here.

Thank you so very much for such a fabulous workshop. I was initially just so excited to meet you an learn a few things. But at the end of the day I felt so much more Comfortable with my camera! I thought I kind of knew what I was doing but I really didn’t have a clue and I kept missing those special moments with my family. Now, after having it explained to me in a language I understand ( aka not the owners manual) I feel so much more confident and actually understand what each setting does and what order to do first! No more auto for me! Thank you so much, it was a fabulous workshop! I had such a good time!

  2. Kristen, after following your blog for almost a year I was so excited to see a workshop in Houston I could attend! I’ve tried shooting in manual on and off with minimal success. The thing that helped me the most was how you had it broken down into what to do first, second and third. So simple but that’s what I needed to get over that glaring hurdle! The workshop was informative, laid back and fun…wish we were meeting again this weekend! Thanks so much! (PS can’t wait to move to your neck-of-the woods so you can take our family pics!!)

  3. Oh, these photos are fabulous. I’m slowly learning how to use the manual settings on my camera, but I”m a self-study right now. If I lived in the area, I’d totally take one of your classes. Just out of curiousity, what kind of camera did you use at this particular class?

Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather 🙂

So so happy I could come to your workshop! It was just what I needed- very easy to understand, plenty informative, and no pressure. You have a knack for explaining concepts in a way novices can understand. It was lots of fun, and I feel so much more comfortable clicking away in manual mode now! 🙂

  5. Wish I had taken this workshop sooner, I’ve been fumbling around with my camera for almost 2 years now. I’m no longer intimated by the M on my camera’s mode dial!

  6. Kristen, The workshop was wonderful! I am amazed at how much more comfortable I am with my camera and with MANUAL. 🙂 It has been fun taking pictures of my family the last few days. You were so clear and broke it down in such an easy way. Thank you!

  7. Hey everyone!! II have not taken Kristen’s workshop, but I would like to one day. I was just asking since you all have cameras, is Nikons or Canons better quality cameras? I will be purchasing soon, but I am back and forth with this two. If you can help please so and share your experiences. My name is Brittany and my email is
