Maxi dress with sleeves

I have been obsessed with maxi dress for the past 5 years. When I first saw them, I fell in love. When I became pregnant with my youngest, I realized quickly it was the. greatest. pregnancy ensemble.  No waistline, covered my super vein-y legs, breezy, and fashionable to boot. The only problem is that they were all spaghetti straps, and I don’t prefer that type of dress.  So I’d wear a shirt under or a cardigan over and I was good. When I nursed my baby, I could continue wearing them, and that little strap/low neckline came in handy–even with the shirt underneath. When I lost the baby weight, I could still wear those same dresses because really–it didn’t matter! In the past 5 years, I’ve collected at least 10 of the beloved maxi dress, and this year grabbed a few maxi skirts. So imagine my sheer delight when I saw a few weeks ago on OldNavy.com maxi dresses with sleeves! I love the length of the sleeve, too, a half sleeve.  I wasn’t quite sure of the color or the size, so I ordered a dark blue in 2 sizes and black in 2 sizes (free shipping with over $50 order and easy return if it doesn’t work out). I ended up prefering the shade of the dark blue (I have to force myself to wear black though it is classy and I love it too…I have a shorter black dress I love) and returned the other three.

The necklace and earrings are a few years ago from New York & Company. The hair? A friend at church asked me how I did it, and I really have no idea! It was a bad hair day, so I tried for an updo that wasn’t working, then went for a low ponytail, wrapped my long hair around the band, then left the rest down as a very loose bun. Got it? How many maxi dresses do you have?

The dress looks great on you! I’ve wondered about the maxi’s with sleeves… I have two and they are both sleeveless. Great color choice.

Very nice! That color looks really good on you!
I am so excited that the maxi length is in right now. I wear skirts all the time, and these are so stinkin’ comfortable! Two of the ones I got for fall need something underneath to keep them from being clingy on the backside, but hey, they’re for fall so it’s okay. I also got a maxi dress with sleeves at Bob’s (don’t know if that store exists anywhere outside of NJ). It’s short sleeves, and the same color as yours, but with black mixed in. I wear it with a black belt for church. Love it!
Oh, I have one other maxi dress with sleeves, too, but that one I made myself.

Love that dress and it looks STUNNING on you.

I love maxi dresses too, but have none. They are all wrong for my body type. I have an athletic build with broad shoulders and not much of a waist. But I do have fantastic legs, so I can’t be covering those up ;)

do you mind telling me your height and size? The reviews on ON are kind of mixed on the length but it sounds kind of long…i don’t know if I should order a regular or petite. I’m 5′ 4”…
    thanks!

Okay–I just clicked the link for the dress you posted below and got one for myself too! I only hope I look half as good as you do in it. With my shortest legs ever, I went for the petite style of it, of course. They offered petites in the hot pink color (or maybe magenta?) and black. I’m kind of opposite where I definitely tend to gravitate toward black. So…I’m being daring and got the pink one. And hopefully by getting it in the petite sizing it won’t be so horribly long? Thanks for once again inspiring me—this time in “fashion”! I’ll send you a pic of it :)

Can’t wait to see a pic of you in it–way to go for the color!!! Petite should be good, but it would be an easy hem it not…
