{Feeling slightly awkward that I’m in most of these images, but I wanted you to get a feel for the scene of the workshop} I was so excited that my pen order came in the day before the workshop! I have been planning to do this for a while, and this was the perfect event to have lots of pens with my business name on them!

When they came in, I ran to my son (slightly squeeling) and he thought it was pretty cool that his mom had her name on a pen.

I had been craving some lemon cupcakes, so I made them for the event (filled with raspberry jam). My daughter helped with the toppers. (By the way, my friend Emily lent me this awesome cupcake holder, and I have to get one now).

Also made my favorite Andes mint cookies…

The packets held the large workshop notebook and and small book (the e-book printed), pen, and a few cards. My friend, Jenny Polson, took all the images with me in it;) I decided to have the workshop at my home because I thought it would be more cozy and intimate and it was!

this bunch descended on my street (the neighbors heads were turning)….

Jenny, my lovely model and assistant (not just helped me today, but many other times as well). This shot below of me isn’t the most spectacular, but I love the looks on the faces:) Concentrating hard!

I had everyone pair off to practice on each other.

All done! If you want to come to a future workshop, I am headed to San Antonio on March 12th and another in North Austin March 26th. Let me know if you wanna play! If you are out of the area, my e-book is tailored to the beginner who has not learned to use the manual settings.

Woo! I’m so excited for the next one! It looks like everyone got to learn a lot!
I attended this workshop & loved it! I received my first DSLR for Christmas & have been shooting in Auto (I haven’t even looked at my camera’s manual). This workshop taught me how to shoot in manual & many functions that I can now use on a daily basis. I have two boys that are growing up way too fast & I want to capture every moment that I can and I now have the tools to get the better picture that I have always wanted to take. Thank you Kristin <3
oh look how lovely you are! i would have been there if I was local!!!! or even if I was a few hours away. I am so happy for you.
xoxoxo
Hey I was just telling Matt this morning how much I was craving lemon/raspberry cupcakes.
I want to get a “real” camera this year. When I do, will you be my teacher?
I’m so excited for you! Pens with your name on them? You’ve made it! Seriously, I think it’s so cool that you are sharing your talent. I loved the comment about empowering others. What a great gift to give.

I SO wish you were further north! I would definitely travel for a work shop but 8 hours is a tad be too much. Darn you, Texas for being so big! haha
It looks like that was tons of fun! And I’m with you on the excitement of the pens. Its such a small thing but it means so much to show the success of a business. And its also exciting when you have an odd love for pens!
SO FUN! Kristen you are amazing and I feel so blessed and honored that I was able to assist you! You are such a great teacher and I really feel like everyone, no matter what their skill level can really benefit from this workshop. It is so nice to be surrounded by people who are interested in taking pictures! I look forward to assisting you in many more workshops! You ROCK!
Kristen, I loved the workshop! Now I feel like I have a good grasp on how to shoot in manual, and I’m so excited to practice.
I wrote about the workshop on my blog if you want to check it out: http://scrappinalli.blogspot.com/2011/02/no-19-photo-workshop.html
Thank you, thank you, thank you. =)
Looks like you had a very nice and productive day.
oh looks so fun! wish i could have been there! but at least i have been enjoying the e-book!
Pens? You rock. I love the picture of all those ladies walking down the street with their cameras. My brother broke the news to me yesterday that my little digital is about to die on us…you may just be inspiring me to get a cool camera next…
P.S. Will you please post the recipe for those Andes mint cookies and the cupcakes? They were both delish!
Ahh! Those pens are super cute!! Can’t wait for the SA Workshop!!
Awesome workshop!! I meant to leave a rave review right away, but can’t comment when I’m on the ipad!? anyhow, I just wanted to add how much fun your workshop was and how invaluable the information was! I love that I was able to go home and KNOW how to play with my camera rather than doing nothing with it and leaving it on auto! Empowered…that was definitely the right word to describe the workshop! Thanks!!!!
ps- ditto on the lemon cupcake recipe! do share!
Very jealous your workshop is so far way, I love your work and have been struggling with getting out of auto mode for a long time. Maybe your book will do the trick. Ever think of doing Webcasts?
Kristen–The workshop was AMAZING!! You were super patient & explained things in a way that us newbies could really understand. I am no longer scared of my camera! I’ve had so much fun putting the things I learned to use and can’t wait to show you some of my “non-auto photos”! You’re a ROCKSTAR photographer & I really appreciate that you were willing to share your knowledge with us. Millions of thanks to you!!
Do you work with film? I would love some information on your N. Austin workshop. Thanks!
Looks like a great class. Are you ever in the Houston area?
Would love info on your next workshop!!
