One of the main reasons I am taking fewer portrait clients is because I want to take more “fun” pictures of my own kids. When I saw my friend Jaime’s adorable pictures of her son starting kindergarten, I was inspired to take some of my most willing model, my daughter. I borrowed a vintage school desk from my friend Jenny and typewriter from Tricia. We went to the field down the street, and sadly got attacked by mosquitos right away, as the sun was going down. I only snapped for 10 minutes or so, but we got some fun pictures, nonetheless!

Oooh, some real cute ones! I am always amazed that sometimes I get more great shots on my ten minute photo shoots than on an hour-long one. I like the dropped apple one and the first desk shots best. Did she get to wear lipstick? My girls would be willing models if I added that incentive to the mix!!
Yes, she did get to slap on some lipstick mid way…I wasn’t planning on it, but she asked with some serious puppy dog eyes. And it’s so true, the first ten minutes tend to be the best!
Those are so fun!!
Thank you, Alexia, it IS fun to plan something for my kids–just not so sure my boys would be so willing…
I have 10 old typewriters I could have loaned you.

The pencils are my favorite!
Pencils…I wanted to do more with them, but those darn mosquitos!
My favorite is the shot where ALyssa is holding the balls in her arms and looking over them down at the ground. I think you capture a great shot with it! Hey, good luck on the room makeover contest, can’wait to see it next week.
