Nie Nie Recovery–Photography Auction

I found a blog a few months ago from this cute mom, Stephanie. I also read her sisters blog, C Jane. I enjoyed both of their blogs because they are upbeat moms, and are members of the same church as I am, just in another state. We have similar views on life and family. I then found out about a plane crash with Stephanie and her husband (they survived but in critical condition in the burn unit), and I’ve been checking C Jane’s blog every day for updates and her insights and perspective. Their story has circulated the blogoshere, but I wanted to share with my readers in case they didn’t know, or just to show my support.
I did not take this picture, but wanted to post it to share this story. The New York Times picked up the story, and I enjoyed the article.

I really wanted to participate in an Auction to raise money for their care, but I’m not sure if I have a big enough blog readership in my area to make a difference. If you are interested in bidding on a portrait session in Austin respond in the comments area (with your bid). I’ll do a full portrait session with the CD of all images, rights signed over to you (I don’t normally give out the disc of images unless my largest collection is purchased–over $1400) weddings excluded. Bidding starts at $200 (and please go in increments of $50) and will end next Monday the 15th at midnight. All proceeds will be paid directly to the Nie Nie Recovery fund, and after a receipt is sent to me to verify you paid the fund, we will have our portrait session. That means 100% of what you pay will go towards the Recovery AND you get a portrait session with disc. And, your heart will feel warm knowing you are helping this family.

Also, if you are local, will you forward my blog link for this auction around to other locals? I want to raise as much money as possible.

I’ve been following this story since last week and reading Stephenie’s blog from the beginning. It just breaks my heart. Yet, it has been so neat to watch the blogging community pull together in this way.

I have seen this story on so many different blogs it is inspiring to see what kind of connection people find through blogging. What a neat story. I wish that I lived closer…I absolutely love your photography and would gladly shell out $600 for a session to help!!

I so wish I lived in the Austin area! I would love to participate in this. Your pictures are beautiful. I had actually never seen the story until I saw it on your blog. I hope enough money is raised through all of these auctions to help get the family through the hospital stay and months of therapy that lie ahead.

Even though I don’t read that many blogs I was surprised that I kept seeing this story popping up everywhere online. I am overwhelmed by the tragedy of it. It’s inspiring to see so many people want to help. I totally wish I lived in your area so I could bid on a photo session…your work is awesome! I am going to check out some of the other auctions though. Thanks for the media links.
