Decorating with Pictures at Uniquely You Photography

I’m happy to share with you a photographer that I’ve admired for quite a while. Sarah and I were on a photo forum a good 8 years ago. I was a quiet reader trying to soak up everything (and nervous to say no to auto), while she was the active pro sharing tips and tricks. I still use a COLOR POP action (in photoshop) she shared on the forum all those years ago. She is an amazing photographer, with a special knack for newborns. She has a beautiful design blog, of which I’ve purchased her unique templates and used them for my family Christmas cards in the past. Today, she shares some beautiful images  of the lovely picture decor in her home!

Hello blog readers! I was so excited when Kristen ask me to be a guest blogger as a part of her Decorating With Pictures series. My name is Sarah and I’ve been a photographer for 8 years. My studio, Uniquely You Photography, is located in Lincoln, Nebraska. I also offer modern template designs for Professional photographers in my design shop, Uniquely You Designs.

As photographers we are endlessly creating images and portrait displays for our clients, but it’s always been a priority of my own to have beautiful images displayed in my home as well. Photos can liven up almost any space in your home, I mean who can resist those smiling faces looking back at you every day? It doesn’t matter if you have a little space or a lot of space, opportunities to display your photos are everywhere. Today I’m sharing how I display photos in my own home.

Upon entering our home you are greeted with this lovely display that continues up the stairs on the second level. This display showcases cherished photos from our session with Pastel Photography.

Three 11×14 images matted to 16×20 frames hang in the dining room.

A collage of 3 prints displayed on the mantle.

I am so in love with this wall gallery, it’s my favorite thing in my home (besides the people, of course. ;) ). It showcases almost 14 feet of various images taken of my kids & family over the years – all printed in black & white to unify the display, and hung in our basement family room. If you can’t tell by now, I prefer the look of a matted print. :) I love the gallery style look of a crisp white mat and a simple black frame for wall portraits. Picture overload!

(All frames from this display were purchased at Pottery Barn. Actual photographs range in size from 14×14 to 4×6)

A few more from the family room…

(10×20 framed collage print displayed on easels below)

Framed portraits atop the dresser in the master bedroom. The kids are usually the focus of photo sessions, but it’s important to remember images with your significant other as well. :) Feel free to mix and match frame styles for a more eclectic look.

Each one of my girls has photos displayed in their bedrooms as well.

(Fun tip! Use room coordinating scrapbook paper behind photos to create a fun matted look. The photographs are taped in place on top of the scrapbook paper.)

Thanks for letting me share! I hope I have inspired you to get your images in frames and start enjoying them!! :)

You can follow me on my BLOG or FACEBOOK PAGE. Cheers.

Decorating with Pictures at Warthan Farms

warthan001

I’m happy to introduce to you today, Jennifer, a fabulous photographer at Warthan Farms, and her lovely pictures displayed in her home. Her home evokes that of the farm life, and it’s just beautiful!   Like most families, we tend to put off family pictures. And then when we do have them taken, we put off printing them. Over Thanksgiving, I handed my sister-in-law the camera and tried to shake off my awkwardness. That’s right… Continue Reading

Decorating with Pictures at Krista Campbell Photography

home photography

Introducing Krista Campbell, whom I discovered recently via her beautiful photography. If you’re in Arkansas, look her up! LOVE the square metal prints (and those fun pillows) along with the giant canvas of her daughter.

Hello Capturing Joy readers! I was so thrilled when Kristen contacted me to be a guest blogger on her amazing blog!  My name is Krista… lover of vintage props, golden fields and momarrazi extraordinaire to a sassy 5-year-old little girl who dons cowgirl boots and pink tutus. I am also a natural light photographer in Northwest Arkansas with Krista Campbell Photography and the co-owner and instructor for Digital Darkroom Secrets.

Photography is such an important part of my life… it’s a given that I want to showcase my work and my family on the walls in my home. I created this wall art several years ago. I love the big images and bright colors. It makes me so happy each time that I walk into my living room and see it! This was created with nine 19in x 19in glass frames from IKEA  and large metallic prints from a

professional print lab.

I love aluminum panels! These are from Pixel2Canvas. These are sure to brighten up any area of your home and I absolutely love the bold, rich colors of the metal panels.

Me and my family are really into waterskiing, so I wanted to have our pictures taken at the private lake where we ski.  These are the FIRST family pictures I have had taken, but not for a lack of trying!  I literally pulled everything together on one day, that way my  family wouldn’t be dreading it for weeks.

Decorating with Pictures at Lolly Jane

Decorating-With-Pictures-Gallery-Wall-Lolly-Jane

Please welcome some of my most favorite blogging friends, the Lolly Jane girls! I met these cute twins last year at a blog conference, and they’ve been my texting/phone buddies ever since. I even got to hang with them on a layover a few weeks ago for 5 hours–it was the best layover ever!  I love their decor style, and I know you will, too.

Hey there Capturing Joy fans! We are thrilled to be here as Kristen’s guestie for her fab series, Decorating with Pictures. Kristen also asked us to share another space of ours last year after her series, you can find that post here. Today we’re sharing how I (Kelli) have easily revamped a dead space in my home with inexpensive decor, giving it a makeover with a punch of color and personality.

Boys Room Reveal: UT vs. BYU

home decor diy

On any given day, you can spot one of my boys wearing a t-shirt or jersey from one of their two favorite Universities: UT or BYU. Both schools are equally favorites for both of my boys, so I thought it’d be fun to incorporate both school themes into the decor of their room. I was pleased that they were very excited about the idea. My husband and I met and graduated from BYU (Brigham Young… Continue Reading

Stencil your Ceiling with Cutting Edge

Have you seen the wall stencil rage around the blogosphere?  I’ve been eyeing varying stencil designs for quite a while, and was THRILLED to get my hands on a Cutting Edge stencil. I can’t reveal to you the entire space yet, but I’ve been working on my girls room to make it fancy (if you remember, they were top 10 contenders for a room makeover from Vintage Revivals last fall).  I’ve brainstormed ideas with my oldest… Continue Reading
