My hubby and me in Alaska

alaska kristendukephotography.com

Kindly, Katie Cannon snapped a handful of pics of my hubby and I while we were on a mountain top in Alaska, and I’m so grateful. It was cold, we were au naturalle (I took off my earring which I feel naked without with no sprucing of hair or make up) and he was wearing his random Virginia baseball cap (it’s fine, we just have no allegiance to the school he went to for a… Continue Reading

Final Family photo shoot in Alaska

2

I am so delighted that I got to capture Emily and her cute little boy. When she told me that she’s usually behind the camera, and hardly in any pictures with him, I had to make sure that wasn’t the case for long. He is an energetic little one, and I had fun chasing him and his momma around.  Here are a few of my faves:

Alaska Family Portraits

This is the second of 3 family portraits I took while in Alaska. It was a mini session, and I met them on  top of flat top mountain.  This little guy was so delighted to pose for me, it just kept cracking me up! The mama, Megan, has been a long time reader here at KDP, and she is one of the reasons I came out to Alaska to teach a class.  Here is a little snippet… Continue Reading

17 things I learned on my trip to Alaska

kristendukephotography.com Alask

I’ve been asked a bunch how my trip to Alaska was, and to even try to describe how fabulous it was would be futile. It was breathtaking, so instead of a travelogue of stories, I thought I’d share the list of things I learned while I was there.  Mostly about the state itself, but facts in general that left my husband and I stumped that we had gone this far in our lives without knowing… Continue Reading

If you missed the first half of this post, check go back to yesterday’s.  More of this great family of my friend, Katie Cannon. I love them all! It was super chilly outside, but breathtaking views, so worth it!!! I’ll share some images with you next week that Katie took of my hubby and me in this same location–like an engagement shoot all over again;) Favorites here?

Alaska Family Portrait Session~part I

kristen duke photography

I was SO excited to photograph Katie’s Family while in Alaska.  She is a photographer (Katie Cannon Photography) in the Northern Anchorage area (Palmer for the locals), and I am always honored when a fellow photog asks me to capture their family. But it also makes me a teensy more nervous.  Not only did she hold my workshop at her home, but we stayed overnight there one night, our husbands bonded, my husband bonded with… Continue Reading

What I wore on my trip to Alaska

kristen duke photography

It was SO fun to read through all of the birthday messages you left me last week–thank you for taking the time to tell me your favorite posts on this blog!  A bunch of you said you love What I wore Wednesdays, and I know how much I love to see what other people wear, and sometimes the outfits that we “craft” don’t get to see the light of day. Have you ever heard the… Continue Reading

Alaska Say No to Auto Workshop

say no to auto workshop

I’m home from my Alaskan adventure, and I have SO much to share! But first, the reason I went on this excursion, to help some folks learn to Say No to Auto!  I am SO SO grateful to Katie Cannon for hosting for me, and for rallying a bunch of her friends to join in the fun. She is an amazing photographer in the Northern Anchorage area, with the desire to want to help her friends capture… Continue Reading

It’s my Birthday, come celebrate!!!

birthday

It’s my birthday, yipeeee! I’ve always loved my birthday, even as an adult, I want it to be special, celebrated, and I try to encourage all my friends (who think they are too old to feel special) that it is important to enjoy that one day each year.  Last year, I posted a bunch of pictures of my birthdays celebrations through the years, so check it out for some vintage fun. I’ve been quite self… Continue Reading

I’m in Alaska and it’s my birthday tomorrow!

alaska

Friends!  I’ve been in Alaska all week, enjoying some one on one time with my handsome hubby!  A-L-A-S-K-A, can you believe it?!?  It’s pretty stinkin’ exciting.  Plus, hubby and I haven’t had more than a weekend trip away together for 6 years, so it was high time!  I’m missing my babies, but they are having fun with my parents back in Texas.  If you aren’t following me on Instagram, here are a few pics that… Continue Reading
