Maternity Photography~Baby D is coming to town!

maternity pictures

I can’t believe it’s been so long since I shared portraits of people! Sometimes it just feels so “same old, same old.” But I really wanted to be the one to share these adorable pictures of my friend Jamie, who blogs at C.R.A.F.T. I got to know her almost a year ago, and it was so fun to get to know another local Austin blogger. She is just one of the sweetest, most thoughtful people… Continue Reading

Austin Senior Portraits: India

cedar park senior portraits

I love photographing teenagers their senior year of high school. It’s such a defining time in life, so filled with adventure and wonder and excitement. My friend Hildie asked me to photograph her daughter, India, and from following her on Instagram, I knew that she was just elected Homecoming Queen! How fabulous is that?? Her mom is also a gal I met through blogging, is a member of my church, and in the neighboring city.… Continue Reading

Six Sisters Stuff Photo Session

Six Sisters

What I love most about this blogging world is meeting new people and making friends, and these cute Six Sisters have become dear friends to me. {L to R: Kristen, Steph, Elyse, Kendra, Camille, Lauren} I met a few sisters over a year ago, but we didn’t really get to know each other until last April, then even more so in June. The sister I’ve gotten to know the most has my same name–KRISTEN!  She… Continue Reading

Family Petite Portrait Sessions

utah portraits

I have had 6 petite sessions in the past week–5 in Utah and one right here in Texas. I wanted to make sure that they get their sneak peek before too long, so I’ve lumped 5 of them all together here with 2 sample images each (the 6th group has to wait a bit). Petite sessions are generally about posed shots, and I try to include a few candids, as well. I had so much… Continue Reading

Family Portraits

I took these family pictures over a month ago for my dear friends, and I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to share them! It was a gorgeous day, I loved the clothing they put together, the kids were adorable, and the parents had fun–yay! You may recognize my friend Staci, who helped me with the Gallery Wall in my girls fancy room. She’s also helping me with a project on my room of… Continue Reading

Decorating with Pictures at Krista Campbell Photography

home photography

Introducing Krista Campbell, whom I discovered recently via her beautiful photography. If you’re in Arkansas, look her up! LOVE the square metal prints (and those fun pillows) along with the giant canvas of her daughter.

Hello Capturing Joy readers! I was so thrilled when Kristen contacted me to be a guest blogger on her amazing blog!  My name is Krista… lover of vintage props, golden fields and momarrazi extraordinaire to a sassy 5-year-old little girl who dons cowgirl boots and pink tutus. I am also a natural light photographer in Northwest Arkansas with Krista Campbell Photography and the co-owner and instructor for Digital Darkroom Secrets.

Photography is such an important part of my life… it’s a given that I want to showcase my work and my family on the walls in my home. I created this wall art several years ago. I love the big images and bright colors. It makes me so happy each time that I walk into my living room and see it! This was created with nine 19in x 19in glass frames from IKEA  and large metallic prints from a

professional print lab.

I love aluminum panels! These are from Pixel2Canvas. These are sure to brighten up any area of your home and I absolutely love the bold, rich colors of the metal panels.

Family Portraits at Home

family portraits at home

This is my new favorite type of portrait session. I love photographing a family in their home, doing what they love to do. When I suggested it to my friend for their upcoming session, she was thrilled about the idea, and I heard later that her husband was just as excited!  They have a lovely home, and sweet children, and I simply adore the images that came out of this session. They are the orthodontic… Continue Reading

October Petite Sessions~Part I

Family Portrait Sessions @ Capturing Joy with Kristen Duke

I had the chance to photograph these two cute girls last spring, and was delighted to photograph the whole family this time. Loved their fall colors, and they were just happy together! The second family brought their adorable dog, who behaved quite nicely and responded well to my whistles/claps. The kids were delightful, and I loved their colors as well! With both of these families, I got to help with clothing coordination ahead of time,… Continue Reading

The Handbuilt Home

I’m so excited to share with you a book that has been in the works for a long time from my friend, Ana White called The Handbuilt Home. {click on the book to learn more or buy}   If you haven’t heard of Ana, then maybe you aren’t as obsessed with blog-land like I am.  I discovered her a good 3 or so years ago when she launched Knock-Off Wood, and shared step by step plans to… Continue Reading

Utah family portraits

Love this girl and her adorable family. We had to schedule our photo shoot in between her half marathon and the Ragnar relay race she ran, but we picked a good night!  She is Tam from the blog Sew Dang Cute Crafts, which has amazing past projects, though she won’t be contributing as much to it in the future. Here is her cute little family:   . I love photographing families in fun and new settings,… Continue Reading

Family Love~Austin Family Portraits

family twin girls

I got to photograph a family the other day, and since I already shared their full gallery with them and that it’s after midnight right now and because I’m mad at my computer for being broken most of the day, I’ll just share a few faves. The momma took my workshop over a year ago (I think it was my first one) and has a nice booming photography business of her own now.  Very exciting!… Continue Reading

Lindsey~one of my favorite high school seniors

I was so delighted to finally photograph this gorgeous girl. We’ve been talking about our shoot for a good year, and she is SO busy with activities in school, it was hard to pin down a date! Lindsey not only has the gorgeous red  hair and creamy skin, but she is one of the sweetest, smiliest girls I know.  I even trusted her to babysit my girls overnight, very responsible. I just love her, and I’m… Continue Reading

Austin Texas High School Senior~Tyler

I knew my job would be easy when Tyler walked up to his petite session the other day.  He  had a handsome smile, ready to be photographed. I found out he is headed out to college in NYC to attend Pace, a school for acting. No wonder, the camera loves him. I don’t doubt he will do well there. Cute boy, eh?

Austin Family Portraits

I’ve got this really great field very near my home, and it’s what I’ll use often for my petite sessions.  This family lives right next to that field and they often see me bringing in other families. This time, it was their turn, and it was very convenient to walk right out the front door for their pictures. We’ve had a wild pig problem in our neighborhood–they come and dig up the yards.  The dad… Continue Reading
