I’m excited to share with you a great picture backup device called the Picture Keeper. As you can see, it fits in the palm of my hand!
PLEASE tell me you don’t trust just your computer or just your phone to get the job done without a backup. I have had an external hard drive (or two) for quite a while. For a long time, I backed up everything on CD’s, then I hear those won’t last too long.
I was contacted by Picture Keeper to review their product, and get this….I get to give one away, too! Woohoo! So let me tell you about it. (All opinions are completely my own). CLICK on the AD below to see more on their site.
Picture Keeper is the easiest way to make a backup copy of your pictures. There is embedded software on the Picture Keeper drives that does all of the work for you. No software to install, no wires to connect, and no passwords to remember.
I get scared of new gadgets. I call my husband in because he does better with all things electronica. I asked him to help me hook this up, left the room for 5 minutes while he opened the box, and came back and he was all done.
“Wait, I needed to take pictures of the process“, I said.
He said, “nothing to take a picture of, you just plug it in and you’re good to go.”
I like easy.
Once the device is plugged in, a pop up will show up on your screen. It works well with your Mac and PC. Once you connect the device to your computer, an icon will appear in your desk top. When you click the icon, you will see the Picture Keeper logo. Once there, click on the start backup.
I reviewed their largest size, the PK Pro, which holds up to 250,000 photos (that’s not hard for me, friends). I have extremely large files because I shoot everyone on the BIG camera in RAW. After a while, I’ll delete RAW files, but I keep them around a while. This size of the device is about as big as my iPhone.
What I loved most about this, is the device detects what images are already on it, so when it gets plugged in (or you can keep it plugged in) it automatically knows which are new files and grabs them. Not duplicates! I have so many duplicate folders on my old external because I just didn’t know if I backed it up or not yet.
Today, I get to give away the PK 4 which holds up to 4,000 pictures!
