I realized Saturday that I had just conducted my 10th workshop in a year! I posted on facebook that I was on a high after it because I love teaching about something I am so passionate about–photography. I also learn from the questions asked, and it is a fun challenge for me to vocalize thoughts beyond my traditional explanations. I also love to see the group work together and learn from each other.
I had a great group of 14 ladies join me at my home. I even had a few travel into town: 2 from Dallas and 2 from San Antonio. It is SO exciting to see the faces begin with a bit of trepidation and leave with JOY!
We gathered at my home…
We headed out to my backyard with all of the toys strewn about. I had planned on walking to the field down the street, but we were short on time, so this worked!
Dear friends of mine (from even before the workshop). The above shot was WAY blown out (underexposed) as my test shot outside, but it’s the only one I took of you two, and I wanted you to be fully documented, so it’s going live for all the world to see. Black and white hid it’s flaws just a little bit…
Here are a few practice shots taken by the attendee’s sent to me last night:
I was the subject matter inside, outside they each practiced with a partner. The big difference from auto to manual is the depth of the image.
My traditional “shooting” shot;) I love to look at the varying hand positions.
In celebration of 10 workshops in one year, here is a look back at the fun!
If you are in the pictures above (or we had a mentoring session) and you are on facebook, send me a note on my facebook page and I will add you to the new facebook discussion group I am making for past attendee’s. It is a place to chat and help each other out. An extended classroom, so to speak.
I had planned on this being the only local workshop for a while, but I have a friend in Lakeway (west Austin) that is gathering a group for a workshop there in May, so if you are interested in info about that one, comment below or send me an email. If you are in Washington DC, Philadelphia, Salt Lake City, or Anchorage, I’m coming your way in the next few months. See details about those workshops here.
