{Just to let you know…this is totally a commercial by Kristen Duke. But as always, I wouldn’t share it if I didn’t believe it was amazing-ness to share, mingled with stories of my personal experiences. I don’t give up precious blog space for nothing. I’m a member of Amazon Associates, and I’m helping them spread the word about why I love what they offer}

Are you familiar with Amazon Prime? My mom has had it for quite a while now, and she’s shipped stuff to me with free shipping (on many items) in just 2 days. I never looked into investing in the $79 a year for it because I just don’t buy a ton online. It didn’t seem worth it for the shipping costs.  I generally don’t buy a ton online because I don’t want to PAY shipping costs, but oh, the convenience (when I don’t need something right away) to click the mouse a few times!

It is so squeeling exciting to get a package delivered…every time. I love how Amazon has that little smiley face in their logo;) It’s because they know how happy we will be when we get a package!

In the box above was a cookbook I ordered. I was pretty excited to thumb through it…can’t you tell?

Recently, I realized that by being a PRIME member, you have access to over 40,000 movies and TV shows as well…WHAT?!?  I did not realize that Amazon Prime was more than just free shipping. Here is  a small sampling of their movie selection.

Amazon Prime TV show and movie selection

So basically it’s around $7 a month for free shipping on a ton of items…. AND movies/TV. (Can we say Netflix plus shipping of tons of stuff?!?)

I was also talking to a good friend of mine, and their family uses their Amazon Prime account for recurring monthly shipments of toilet paper, paper towels, oatmeal, CLIF bars, stuff they know they eat and use a lot…then she doesn’t have to think about grabbing those things at the grocery store–it comes to their door  once a month (without her going in to request it) with free shipping!  Holy Minoly!  I like the sound of that! Have you ever been to the last precious morsel of toilet paper in the house to hear the sound of someone yelling from the bathroom to bring you some and you just don’t have it? Not a good feeling.

Do you have a Kindle? I’m not much of a reader (what can I say, I blog!) My mom and sisters in law are HUGE readers–they love their kindle. Well, with Amazon Prime, there is access to a lending library where you can “check out” a book a month as a Prime member, no cost of buying the books.  So to my 3 reasons…

3 reasons to join Amazon Prime

1. Free 2 days shipping on millions of items

2. Access to 40,000 movies and TV(I checked out the selection and it’s pretty fab)

3. Kindle borrow program
amazon prime free trial

I decided to check it out for myself with the 30 day free trial that they offer. I’m generally quite leary to do free trials because I am SUPER forgetful about stuff like that. But I wrote it on my calendar that it ended several days before it actually did, in the event that I didn’t want to keep it. But at the end of the month, I decided it was worth it, and decided I’m canceling some other online streaming programs I’ve been a part of. Change is scary, but usually it’s good.

If you’d like to start your own free trial, click on the link below the cute orange picture. Just so you know, I am part of the Amazon Associates program that helps to promote their awesomeness. I do get a small compensation if you sign up for the free trial through my link, but no pressure;)

  1. Recently I got Prime. I don’t think I can ever go back to slow shipping again. I ordered my 50 mm lens from Amazon and it’s so fun to get it in two days! And I feel like 90% of the time you are getting a better deal on items purchased on Amazon.

  2. I have had Amazon Prime for three years now and I LOVE it! I rarely use either the free movies or kindle-borrowing program – free shipping is worth it to me. I do take advantage of their free or low-cost kindle books and I buy a lot from Amazon – they have everything, you know, not just books. I do a lot of my Christmas/birthday shopping there and sometimes have it mailed straight to the recipient. It’s the best deal in town!

  3. We’ve had prime for about 2 years now… I couldn’t live without it! It is a great deal. The closest box store is 45 minutes away so anytime I need anything I just jump on Amazon. I usually find what I need and can have it within two days, or for super cheap – the next day! Plus, most of the time it comes next day anyway. I recommend it to everyone!

  4. We’ve had Amazon Prime for a few years now and don’t think we can live without it. We order alot from Amazon, from appliances to cat supplies to home supplies, so shipping pays for itself quickly. Great deals and now I don’t have to lug home a 40 pound bag of litter 12 blocks home. I also love how quick it is, sometimes I even get it the day after ordering!

  5. I am in the trail period right now with Prime. I ordered a new office chair and the shipping was going to be crazy high, so I went for the free trial. I have a stick note on my monitor to remind me to cancel, but I didn’t know about the movies 🙂 I might have to re think this decision!!!

  6. Love it! If you have a college student, family member living away, or a stateside Mormon missionary, Amazon Prime is your best friend! I use it ALL the time for my missionaries!

  7. I’ve love my Amazon Prime. I find myself ordering more and more online.

  8. Francine says:

I have amazon prime and I absolutely love it! I must admit that right when I signed up I ordered quite a bit more than I should have, but now that I’ve mellowed out a bit I love the quick free shipping and I watch a number of programs on Amazon Prime Video.

  9. We ordered our crib for Baby B through a prime account. Free shipping on that was pretty awesome! I didn’t know about the borrow program and the TV shows. I wish we could cancel our Direct TV account now!

  10. I’m definitely a fan of Amazon Prime as well. I originally signed up for a free trial and then kept it. I’m going on two years now. We never use the movies though, so I need to check that out!

  11. Morgan H. says:

I have used Prime for 3 or 4 years now. I have Amazon Student (I think it’s free for the first year and then I know that subsequent years are half price!!! – One nice perk for paying a billion dollars for nursing school.) I love that I can send gifts to friends and family all over the country with the free two day shipping, and I have a slight obsession with my Kindle book every month (you can only check out one at a time, and the selection is somewhat limited, but I’ve found some interesting things to read.) I am super cheap – but I have found the cost to be worth it and will probably shell out the full $79 when I am finished with school, because it is worth it 🙂

  12. The free shipping is pretty magical at Christmas time!! Last year I did 90% of my Christmas shopping online. It was the first time I have ever done my Christmas shopping online.

  13. It is definitely a great along with useful part of facts. My business is thankful that you contributed this convenient details around. Be sure to stop us informed like this. Many thanks for expressing.

  21. With havin so much content and articles do you ever run into any problems of plagorism or copyright infringement? My blog has a lot of completely unique content I’ve either written myself or outsourced but it looks like a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my agreement. Do you know any ways to help protect against content from being stolen? I’d definitely appreciate it.

  23. I know it may be against the law in certain countries, but I don’t have a Kindle yet or ordered from Amazon before. I know, I know, it’s crazy but I have seen many things online on Amazon and then bought them at the store, so this Prime thing does make me re-think this policy, lol.

  24. I have tried the one month free trial already and I am pretty much impressed. I never knew that being a PRIME member I have an access to over 40,000 movies and TV shows as well. Wow!! I am definitely going to check this out. I will also recommend it to all of my friends using kindle. Thanks for sharing!!
