It was so fun to visit the sites that linked up to my first Capture the Joy in front of the lens series.  Being that it was Mother’s Day weekend, I read a lot of hearfelt posts, and super sweet pictures of momma’s with their kids. I’m so happy to see that they recognize the importance of being in pictures with their kids, so I’m sharing a few of my favorites with you to make sure you see them, too.

I LOVED this picture from A Texan grows in Brooklyn (super cute blog name, too). Seriously, this image below makes my eyes tingle, and my heart squeel with delight! How lucky is this cute little one to have a mama love on him? How grateful will he be when he is older to be reminded how much his mama adored him. I just love it! Plan to take a picture like this with your littles, and then share them. It’s encouraged to copy the idea;)

Nest, is a phone picture of an early morning “nuggle” with a momma and her 3 little one’s brings back memories of a time when I was not in a hurry to get up, but my kids were anxious for the day to begin.  I LOVE that phone camera’s have gotten so much better than they used to be, and we can capture the joy nearly all the time! It doesn’t have to be perfectly taken to be a sweet moment to remember. Thanks, Heidi (from Sew.Craft.Create. ) for sharing!

Mandy from Sugar Bee Crafts has had the great idea of making sure she takes pictures with each of her kids individually.  I think all too often our children are a whole, but it’s important to remember they are individuals and may want pictures of them and mom all to themselves.  She has many other fun “mommy pics” on that post I linked.

Lastly, I loved that this momma got creative and decided to take some “mudder’s day”  pics in the mud!  I am SURE the kids were happy to be in THOSE pictures! There are lots of other fun muddy pics on oher site, Virtual Cacophony, go check them out! What would your kids have fun doing that you can take pictures with them in?

p.s. I am excited to see the link up share’s on our “get together” on Monday.  Just because Mother’s Day is over doesn’t mean the picture taking with kids is over…challenge yourself and share!

p.s.s. If you are on instagram, you can hashtag #capturethejoy with similar images, to see shares over there

  1. Thank you so much for your comments on our photo, Kristen! I loved how our Brooklyn Boy was looking right at the camera when my husband snapped it…perfect timing! The links this week were such fun and I can’t wait to check out next week’s submissions 🙂

  2. Fun stuff! I loved looking at the other photos. And I wish I could claim the creative muddy approach, but that was all my hubby’s idea. It will be one to remember, that’s for sure!

  3. I just love the muddy mother – she is so game for everything. I would sometimes like to be like that, but I know myself too well 🙂

Although I did post about perfectionism in self-portraits yesterday… 🙂

    Can’t wait to link up!
