It’s been a while since I’ve shared a photo session with all of you. Partly because I haven’t been taking as many, partly because I like to share only unique and different shoots when I do.  This one on a chicken farm was quite unique, so here are a few of my favorites!

photography session

This shoot was a lot of fun,

and was a result from a trade with a friend.  She makes amazing cakes and made the cakes for my daughters Rockstar birthday party and the Neon Skate birthday party. Click on those links to see the fabulous cakes.  They used to live in a suburban neighborhood like me, but a few years ago, moved out to 5 acres, and now have 85+ chickens! We actually get a weekly delivery of 2 dozen eggs from them, and they are SOOOO delicious!

pictures of kids on farm

Her boys do most of the work for the chickens, and it’s so great to see them interact and guide them around, and take care of them.

She’s told me stories of how they had to keep watch out for the hawks that were taking them, and other animals such as skunks, raccoons, foxes, and even deer that like to get to them.

photography tips

Part of me thinks it would be so great to have chickens, teach my kids some good hard work, eat our own fresh eggs…

but then the other part of me is kinda lazy. I’m a city girl!!  I think my friend was, too, and they changed it all, but still, not sure I have the heart for it.

Now I kinda want a barn in my backyard, just for pictures

and a rope swing…I think I can do that in my backyard…

photo session on a farm

Even if I don’t have chickens, I want these chicken coops as playhouses in my yard!

The way they call the chickens in for meal time, is they say, “Where’s my peeps???” and they all come running. I love how they made shirts saying that.

This session was so fun!

Do you have a farm? Know much about raising chickens? I’d love to hear some fun stories!

Love this photo session. Especially that it’s so real, documenting something that’s a big part of their lives.

What a FUN session! It’s hard to pick a favorite photo. I love the colors of the outbuildings!

My 91-year-old Grandpa has chickens (and sheep and a donkey; had to give up the cows when he wasn’t able to care for them). When I was little, my mom or somebody got me colored chicks for Easter, bright magenta and blue and purple. I really should look into that for Gracie next year!

What a fun Easter memory to get chicks, I’m sure Gracie would LOVE that!
