Colorado is now my home (moved from Austin in July 2020), and I’m delighted to share about how to be your new Colorado Springs Family Photographer! This site was created in 2010 sharing photo tips, then became a place for lifestyle shares with all of the holiday, home decoration, and party planning. It will continue to house all of that, and now it will be updated only occasionally. It will house my Colorado Family Photography information, The Camera Academy for Moms, Decorating with Pictures, and what to wear in family pictures.

I have 2 types of family sessions to choose from: 1) Custom photo sessions 2) Mini sessions which I call petite sessions

(High School Senior pictures are slightly different and have their own info page, click on that link!)

I understand that some people would like a custom tailored session orchestrated just for them, while others just want “a few pictures” to remember this moment in time.

My specialty is family photo sessions, and I also love high school senior portraits. No newborn sessions at this time, but I LOVE newborns WITH the family.

The deposit and session fee’s are non refundable, but transferable to another date, in the event of illness or inclement weather. Custom Portrait Session ($525+tax):

My favorite portrait sessions are a photo journalistic approach. I love capturing family interaction and play at your own home, a creative theme idea, or favorite family spot around town. The Custom Portrait Session is a collaboration between my ideas and those that hold special meaning to you. Do you have a family favorite ice cream shop? Love to make pancakes together on Saturday mornings? Have a fun theme in mind? I am a “fly on the wall” capturing your family as they are, in a photo journalistic way, with candid and posed shots. I want you to walk away from this session with a documentation of a slice of your life. I don’t want you to have a “hard time choosing” because I want you to have them all, so this package is all inclusive!

The Custom Portrait Session includes:

Pre-session clothing consultation & location discussion via phone/text
45-60 minute custom tailored session in location of your choosing in the greater Colorado Springs area
40 Full resolution images to print as you’d like ($1800 value)
16×20 mounted print of your favorite image to hang on the wall

Add on heirlooms:

Hard cover storybook album, includes 20 images/20 pages, 8×10 sized
Print orders, canvas, cards, albums are optional but available

When most people think about hiring a professional photographer, they don’t consider their home as the backdrop they are looking for. But why not??? Beautiful portraits in the place you spend the most time as a family offers the most unique atmosphere. I would suggest this only if you love the decor in your home, and it is free of clutter. I often like to create activities such as hanging out on the couches, sitting around the piano, jumping on the trampoline, or even having a cookie making event in the kitchen. Possibilities are endless–what does your family love to do at home together?

Colorado Springs Mini Session

Petite Portrait Session ($325+tax):

This session is only available when scheduled by Kristen on a pre-set date, scheduled back-to-back with other family mini sessions. They are announced on Instagram/Facebook, at a location of Kristen’s choosing. Feel free to inquire about the next petite session, nominate a location, or if you bring along 2 friends, you can set the date! Images guaranteed: Posed family shot, just kids, mom+dad, individuals, candid “family walk”

The petite session ($325) includes:

pre-session clothing consultation via text
15 minute photo session
20 images fully edited images to download + print as you’d like ($900 value)
Prints ordered additional if desired

This 15-20 minute mini session will not happen every month. Watch for announcements on Instagram/Facebook or inquire for the next one. I will select the date and location and will hold firm to the time slots. This shortened session doesn’t lack in beautiful moments captured, just in the variety, and are more posed in nature. Some people worry their kids won’t behave or that won’t be enough time, I PROMISE, it works out! I’ve been doing this time frame for years, and most people are very pleasantly surprised what can be captured in this time frame.

For Petite Portrait Session sample galleries, see here and here and here and here. With just enough time for 1 family pose and a few individual shots, or a handful of shots of just children/senior in high school. This includes all of the best images, minimum of 10, generally up to 40.

Though I announce a few dates for petite sessions in advance, I will be holding them each season, they can be on a date of your choosing if you gather 2-3 friends to join you with a booked session. Otherwise, watch for my announcements on Instagram/Facebook for future dates.

{The above “family reunion” photo session is booked as a Custom Portrait session, and depending on size, and desire for individual grouping, may be subject to $100 per individual family beyond the big group}

***If you find you are not completely satisfied with your gallery images, I am happy to re-shoot your session. I don’t want you to worry going into your session that your investment in portraits hinges on one day. I want you to be happy:)
