I LOVE candid photography. To capture those moments as if I were a “fly on the wall” is my goal with clients, and it’s what I love captured with my family. But it doesn’t always come so naturally to “pose” for candid shots. It’s actually not posing so much as it is setting up the environment.

For my custom sessions, I send out a questionnaire with a bunch of questions to help my clients get their brain rolling about fun elements to include in their family session. This family above had such a FUN session with lots of personality including several elements of what they love. When she said, “We have a tradition of randomly jumping in the pool with our clothes on, should we do that?” To which I said, “HECK YES!!!”  I love when that adventurous spirit comes out!

I shared an article on New York Institute of Photography all about Telling a Story with Photos, and included more images of this fun family. I’d love  you to hop on over and check it out!

Just wait and see what our fun Christmas cards are this year–lots of crazy candid moments—excited to share soon!

Thanks so much for all your photography tips. I think I’m finally starting to get better. Buying a tripod made a huge difference too! Someday I’ll graduate to a big girl camera. Oh, and loved your office feature on better after too!
