Photo banners aren’t just for special occasions. Hanging them in your home year round is a great way to display family photos in unexpected places.

Hi, friends! I’m Kristi from ishouldbemoppingthefloor.com…a creative lifestyle blog where I can think of anything to do besides chores! I’m thrilled to be here with Kristen today in this fantastic series. I met Kristen last year at Blissdom…I knew I liked her right away when I found out she lived in Austin {my hometown}!

Is this series not the best? I’ve been enjoying the posts every day…and now my to-do list is a lot longer!

Today, I’m giving a little tour of the spots in my house where I display photo banners… every day! They’re not just for parties…I think they add a touch of fun to everyday decor. And they’re an inexpensive way to display, and regularly switch out, your favorite family photos.

I’m kind of a chalkboard fah-reak, y’all. I have ’em everywhere. To jazz up this one in our entry way, I added some family photos and simple words to the top. Nothing fancy: twine, mini clothespins {which I use a lot} and photos laid on top of a faux-burlap banner. I was inspired to create this banner after seeing my friend, Jenn’s, over at Clean and Scentsible. If you’d like to see my video on how I create handwritten chalkboards, click here.

You can download the blank version of this banner below to create your own. It contains the burlap pennants, the chalkboard pennants, and a template to cut your photos with {to size them correctly}. Or you can lay ’em on top in Photoshop like I did…a bit easier. There’s also a blank chalkboard template in there that you can use a white crayon to write your own words on.

In our master bedroom, I have a banner with photos from our wedding day hung on the pallet I have above our faux fireplace. It’s a great reminder of that special day. Sometimes I get caught up in displaying current photos…but having older ones displayed serve as meaningful reminders of special times.

I just released the above banner as a free printable over on my blog this morning. Feel free to check it out and download it here. There’s a little more of the story behind these photos in that post, too!

Photo banners can also come in lots of sizes…like this mini one above. I put this one out for Valentine’s season. These photos of my boys are from several years ago…but they’re two of my favorites. The one on the left is my {now nine-year-old} son giving me the sign for “I love you”…how appropriate for this season!

This mini banner hangs on my framed vintage Valentine printable {I downloaded it from The Graphics Fairy}.

In my office, I also have some faux-laroids hung up banner-style on a frame.
To check out that project, click here.

Thank you bunches for having me here, Kristen! I’m so honored to be a part of the fun. This series is just wonderful…the idea of displaying our memories in various ways just tugs at my heart!
