Landmark decade birthdays seems to call for deeper reflection, and warrants making a bucket list.  Since I turn 40 next summer, I whipped up a 40th birthday bucket list of things I’d like to do before I turn 40.

40th Birthday Bucket List

I’m actually pretty excited about turning the big 4-0!  I’ve had a little bucket list in my brain of things to do in the next year before I turn 40, but I thought it would be fun to make an actual printed list of 40 by Forty…and check it off as I go, and share them with you when I do!

I love life. It’s treated me well, despite whirlwinds and heartache at times. I believe whole-heartedly that we are given challenges to stretch us; To shape us into something beautiful, that can bless the lives of others if we allow it to.

Where to begin on making a list though? I’ve recently been thinking that I need to make a travel bucket list. How can I do that when I want to go everywhere??? But I really want to nail down 10-20 places that I REALLY want to go, so that I can start working towards it. That will wait…first the 40th birthday bucket list.

My 40th birthday Bucket List:

  1. 40 in six months for me. I’m not really sure how I got here. I’m trying to embrace it, but I always pictured my life at 40 with a husband and kids and never expected to be single and still looking. So, I do what I love the most, which is traveling and seeing the world. I’m hoping to go on a safari in Tanzania with my friend who is also turning 40 some time next year. I like this idea of 40 by 40 bucket list.

    • Kristen Duke says:

Tanzania sounds so fun! I also love to travel and see the world as much as possible.

      • So, I’ve been trying to come up with a bucket list, and all I can get are 5 for now. This is HARD!

        1) My 40th birthday trip has happened or is on the books
        2) Another half-marathon
        3) Pin-up girl photos
        4) Declutter my apartment (clean out the laundry basket catch all!)
        5) Improve my engineering analysis skills. (practice calculations and ANSYS)

  5. The above shared artricle is really very good, it helped me a lot. Thanks for sharing.

  6. Great list! I don’t turn 40 for two more years but it’s something to think about! On the yoga front, I highly recommend Yoga by Candace on YouTube. She’s got a great voice, explains the moves and dresses modestly. I also highly recommend Crossfit for strength training! Keep us updated on your bucket list 🙂

  7. Thanks your shared!… I hope you will continue to have similar posts to share with everyone! I believe a lot of people will be surprised to read this article!

  8. I turned 40 about 2 years ago. I had goals for that whole year. I called it 40@40. I focused on mind, body, & spirit. For my mind I read 40 books or articles. For my body, I worked out (at least) 40 minutes 4 days per week. And for my spirit I attended the temple 40 times that year. It wasn’t easy and honestly the only goal I fully accomplished was going to the temple. I think about the all the things I achieved that year & know that it was the right time for that to happen. I’m now making a list I call “Alive @ 4-5.” Things I’m going to do to improve (to feel more alive) for myself, home, & family before I turn 45.
