My neighbor is having her first boy, and I was excited for my other neighbor and I to throw her a shower.  I spent all day crafting the decorations and they seem sparse in the pictures.  Since she is decorating in airplanes with blue and brown, we extended that theme to the shower.   I love how the banner turned out, just got a bunch of scrapbook paper in my chosen colors and put it on zig zag ribbon.

airplane cake

My friend Juliet from 3 Marie’s Catering made the cute airplane cake for me.  I used to like to make cakes for events (such as my kids parties) but now I prefer to make the decor and have someone else make the cake.  Juliet also made the cute lamb cake for my daughters Mary Had a Little Lamb party last spring.

baby shower popcorn

I thought the “Ready to Pop” sign was appropriate with the popcorn ready to eat;) Fun to display the colors in the trifle dish.

blue brown and white popcorn treat

I made my current party favorite treat, some chocolate popcorn.  Click on that link for a little recipe to the goodness. I made white (mint), brown, and blue.  The brown was not my fave.  Not a true chocolate, but the wafers that Wilton makes.  The white mint, however, was delectable.

Handmade Onesies

I adore handmade onesies and I always want to make them, but never take the time.  I made 4 in one afternoon.  After looking all over for light blue onsies, I finally found some cute blue and white striped ones at Walmart. The mix of prints turned out great. I ironed on the fabric with pelon by the yard from Hobby Lobby.  Then on the brown tie and airplane, I did a zig zag sewing stitch around it.  I felt very impressed with myself.  I wasn’t quite sure I wanted to tackle the letters J-A-C-K, so I just left it…I hope it washes ok!  This was my gift to her as well.  For his name, I traced some chipboard letters that I have in my stash.  They were the perfect size.

A few days before, my daughter helped me paint the clothespin airplanes.  I found them via Pinterest, and Parents.com.  They were a fun little accessory.

diaper cake

I enlisted my neighbor Naomi (whose home we had the shower) to help me with the diaper cake.  She had never made  one before and doesn’t get much into craftiness, so it was fun to rope her in;)  You will recognize Naomi as the cover of my Say NO to Auto book;)
