One of my favorite long standing quick treats to take to a party is the chocolate saltine cracker. It’s super simply and easily transported.  I made some of this yumminess to take to my book club get together.

I made my cracker treats:

then sprinkled some chocolate chips:

chocolate chips

Once fully prepared, I broke up the pieces and gathered them in my Rubbermaid container to take to my party.

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup sliced almonds toasted
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

  2. Line a jelly roll pan (15x10) with foil. Spray with non-stick spray.

  3. Line greased cookie sheet with single layer of crackers.

  4. Combine butter and brown sugar in a heavy saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Boil for 3 minutes.

  5. Pour over the saltines and spread evenly.

  6. Put pan in oven and bake at 400 degrees for 6 minutes, until hot and bubbly.

  7. Remove from the oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over the toffee.  Let sit  until the chocolate has melted, then quickly spread the chocolate so it covers the toffee crackers.

  8. Sprinkle melted chocolate with sliced almonds and allow to cool completely.

  9. Once cooled, break into pieces.  Keep sealed in an airtight container.
