How to Start a Photography Business: 25 Pretty Packaging and Branding Ideas that will help you get started to make that WOW impression so clients will want to keep coming back.

Everyone loves a pretty package, right? The professional photography world is such a saturated market, it’s always important to think about ways to have a current or past client coming back (or offer incentives for clients to share on social media, that will have their friends drooling).

Think about it. If someone hands you a gift in a grocery sack, or someone hands you something all tied up in a pretty bow. Placing hidden treasures such as candy is an extra bonus.

Not only are you offering great photography, it’s about the overall experience. Packaging up your order with a lovely presentation is sure to leave your client with warm fuzzies in their heart. It’s just a little visual that will stick in their mind the next time they are needing a photographer. I thought I’d share my packaging along with a bunch of other inspirational ideas to get your mind rolling with ideas to create something unique.

I’ve changed my packaging several times, and right now and very happy with the simplicity! I love bright colors, and used the colors from my website to create my logo. {Logo design is a whole other subject, but look on Etsy for designers or even ready-to-purchase logo’s to save money}.

I shared these images on Instagram a few months ago, and got so many fun comments! It let me know that my packaging was a HIT!

How to Start a Photography Business

I shared those images during the very busy fall season, where I had 11 clients images I had to package all at once. It made my process easier that I stacked all 11 boxes on my desk, and once they were finished, I put the lid on the box and stacked in the “to deliver” spot.

Here are my packaging items all spread out so they are easy to view:

Photography Packaging

  • Custom USB drive: Flashbay (lots of colors and options). About $10 each when ordering 25
  • 4×6 turquoise blue box: h-b Photo. $1.80each/50 count (lots of other colors and sizes)
  • Printed card: I purchased the design of the front from Alyssa Collins, a photographer, and customized to my colors.  Printed 4×6 from Black River Imaging
  • printed sticker label: Design from 733 with my logo and printed at Black River Imaging (lots of shapes for stickers)
  • candy:  I was so excited to find Tootsie Rolls in my brand colors at my local grocery store! Any kind of candy is fun to add into the packing.
  • paper candy bag: Found at many party supply stores or scrapbook stores or online here {mini clip from scrapbook store}
  • Business card: Many shapes and sizes at Black River Imaging, mine were designed by 733.

I used to add a personalized key chain or mini accordion album as a gift, but it’s now nice to be able to complete editing my image, package, and deliver all in the same day.
