While kids are planning a of summer fun, moms are planning how to avoid summer learning loss. It can be a tough sell getting your kids pumped about summer learning. Build a little excitement by putting together a special Summer Learning Caddy!
Before I dive into how to put together a summer learning caddy, let’s get to know each other a little bit!
I’m Shelly from Dolen Diaries where I share my adventures in creativity. I live in the Seattle-ish area with my husband and three, crazy fun boys.
I am all about creating creative quality time with them so much so that my husband and I spend most of our date nights in our garage (we lovingly call them our Garage Date Nights). I have the BEST conversations with my boys while we are doing something creative together and I love sharing ways that you can spend some creative time with your kiddos.
Before I stayed home with my boys, I taught kindergarten and know how important it is to keep those skills sharp through out the summer. If your kids are like mine, they love to go school supply shopping. Picking out just the right crayons and pencils helps build the new school year excitement. I thought I could snatch a little of that excitement for some summer learning, too!
Target has these small caddies for a $1! Not only can my two youngest boys could each have their own caddies for their specific supply needs but they get to pick out their own color and that makes shopping extra fun!
A little personalization would make their summer learning caddies a little more special. Cricut has a vinyl sampler called Brights that are perfect for summer projects.
Kell announced while we were still in the store that he wanted motorcycles. Ash loves soccer so he wanted his summer learning caddy to be decorated with soccer players. Now that their caddies were decorated they were ready to be filled!
Since Kell is a preschooler he needed crayons, some learning scissors (yes, we are tackling cutting and lots of it this summer), and a few dobbers.
Ash used crayons at school a lot so when he saw a big set of markers his little eyes popped. I knew those markers would be a big hook for him so we got those. He also wanted black pencils because they were cool and a new eraser. We already had scissors which rounded out his summer learning caddy.
They can’t wait to use their summer learning caddies but to keep them special I am making them wait until the first official day of summer break to use anything out of them! I don’t want the excitement to wear off before summer even starts around here!
I would absolutely adore it if you popped on by and checked out a few of my favorites that I know you’ll love!
Don’t forget to check out Dolen Diaries through out the summer to see what creative adventures we’re having!
