Planning your holiday trip was never easier, with home rentals.
If you’ve been around my site for a bit, you may know that I love a good family travel adventure. You may also know that my oldest is a senior, and I’ve got just a few more family trips to plan before he graduates. Although I tried to talk my family into traveling OVER Christmas, I had a few that begged not to (the girls), so we are departing on our adventure right after.
Why I love Home Rentals
As I’ve mentioned before, I love staying at home rentals when we travel. It’s such a great option, especially for a family of 6 where we might otherwise have to get two hotel rooms–same price!
Actually the prices really vary from place to place, month to month, and city to city, but I look for places to stay at around $200 a night, and it’s generally do-able!
Here are a few more reasons why we love home rentals:
- We love to cook our own meals
- Sprawl out on couches and watch movies
- Have space to roam after a long day of adventuring
- Can be noisier without neighbors a floor above us
- Yard to play in/relax/explore
Here is a fun pic of our home rental in Taos. Decorated where we felt like we were in New Mexico, complete with a hot tub outside!
My best tip for vacation planning:
BOOK EARLY! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve waited til the last minute to make a decision. It feels SOOOO nice to have already done that for our end of December trip (and I did it in September!)
I partnered with VRBO, which is part of the HomeAway family, to share where we plan to travel this winter. I’m also excited to spill the beans about their “Win the Mountain” sweepstakes this winter. It’s a crazy awesome prize package! VRBO partnered with Eagle Point Resort in Beaver, Utah to offer the ultimate prize package including private ski instruction, a $5,000 travel stipend and a three-night stay in a luxurious cabin close to the resort.
VRBO’s “Win the Mountain” sweepstakes is Going on now through Saturday, Nov. 17. and one lucky winner and up to 19 friends will win a day of skiing with no other skiers, boarders or lift lines in sight.
Look at this amazing home nestled in the forest…I want to win! (See video of the property at the end of this post)
Where we are headed
Now, do you want to hear where we are headed in December??? Wait for it….
IDAHO!!! What, that’s not on anyone’s bucket list? Well, it SHOULD be!
We are headed to Southeast Idaho, where I lived for 2 years in college, and I haven’t been back since December 1998–20 years ago! Although I’m a little nervous about the frozen over roads in Rexburg (where I attended Ricks College–now BYU Idaho) my husband and I are super excited to introduce the kids to The Grand Tetons and Yellowstone in the winter (with plans to someday go in the summer, too). Hubby’s uncle lives in Idaho Falls, and we will visit them as well, and of course the campus where I spent 2 glorious years back in the day.
The home we are staying in is a beautifully remodeled 1920s home with original hardwood floors and trim work that have been fully restored, and of course updated amenities.
Are you adventuring to anywhere fun this winter??
