Booking a Beach House through AirBnB

If you follow me on Instagram or Snapchat, you likely saw our family took a little trip last week to an adorable beach house. We are smack dab in the middle of Texas, in Austin, and it takes us 3-4 hours to get to the ocean from here. It’s the Gulf of Mexico, and brownish, but it’s what I grew up with, and it’s warm enough to swim in most of the year! For the past 7 years, I’ve booked 2-3 night getaways for our family over the Christmas break, we call it our “Christmas Cabin.”  My kids love this tradition, and I decided to go out of the norm, and book another trip for 2 nights over Spring Break this year. My husband had the week off, and I was not going to just sit home. Just a few weeks before, I pulled up AirBnB to look over the options, and fell in LOVE with this adorable beach cabin, and was delighted it was available. I usually aim to spend $200-300 a night, this one was closer to $400, but $800 for a fabulous family vacation, isn’t so bad, in my opinion, especially when the alternative is 6 flights somewhere.

How to book with AirBnB beach house cute home decorIt was our second time using AirBnB to book, the first was on our trip to London, and I keep meaning to write about that!! But back to the beach…it’s an easy process, has an amazing App to look through options, and I did most of it through my phone (and I hate doing hardly anything on my phone except text and instagram).  This was in Port Aransas, Texas. {BTW, I’m pretty sure it stands for Air Bed and Breakfast}  Anyway…just so you know, I DID NOT get paid to write this, I DID NOT get the place for free, but if you sign up through MY LINK and end up booking, I do get a credit, but so would you if you share about it with your friends. Sign up and see!  And guess what, YOU also get a discount by signing up through my link, too. If you do it on the app and not the link, use the code: KDUKE43  I’ve even “hearted” some destinations and locations around the world that I’m dreaming of visiting. The app is fun to dream with…

This house was named Oceans 11, and was about 700 square feet. 4 bedrooms and 3 main bathroom, along with Netflix. We had a fun ping pong tournament, LOVE that table, and I took pictures of the kitchen table because I want my husband to build that. Oh, the blue!

So….I’m just going to leave you with pictures I took on my fancy camera, a.k.a. my dSLR, and next week I’ll aim to share my phone pictures. I use both! In the meantime, if you want more, check out 5 tips for taking pictures at the beach.
