Did you know that the term “Mormon” is a nickname that members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints don’t prefer? I used it to title this episode because I know that people are familiar with that name, but throughout this 3 part series, I’m sharing why it is that that is a name is just a nickname, stemming from The Book of Mormon, another testament of Jesus Christ.
This final episode of the year is split into 3 parts, just a touch longer than my standard interviews. Since we are talking about faith this month, and I already interviewed a few people from other faiths, I couldn’t let this moment pass by without sharing about my own faith, and how it guides me in my parenting.

Converting to “Mormonism”
However, in Part 1, I am chatting with my friend Abby, as she shares about her conversation to the faith. She speaks of her wonderful neighbors as her example, and I wanted to make sure everyone knew that they MAY already know those neighbors. They are both dear friends of mine as well, and I chatted with them on podcast episode #13 and #17 respectively, Brian and Shelley.

The Book of Mormon
In Part 2 I share the origin of The Book of Mormon, how it came to be, the history.
Below are links that go more in depth than what I talked about, worth the read.

13 Articles of Faith
The Articles of Faith are the basis for which members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe. It’s the basic doctrine or beliefs, “in a nutshell.” I memorized them as a child, and have encouraged my kids to memorize them. There are lots of great free printables online for that, we used the prints below. You can print them for free, click on the image.
I hope that anyone listening now has a better understanding of what it is we believe and where it all comes from. I’d be happy to send your way a copy of The Book of Mormon OR The Strength of Youth pamphlet, so just send me an email (kristenduke AT Gmail) or message me on Instagram! (I don’t often see comments if they are much later after the publish date of this article)
