This Tribal Feather Headdress is great for a summer craft, and it went perfectly with my daughter’s Tribal BoHo Chic TeePee Birthday Party last summer!   It’s such a fun craft for anytime, file it away for a day when your kids are bored. All you need are some feathers, felt, adhesive, and voila! See the step by step with simple instructions below.
Tribal Feather Headdress

The Tribal Feather Headdress is great for dress up, and makes for a fun parent child craft. Just a few basic elements, which I’ve listed below with details on how to assemble one yourself. I had a gaggle of girls working in an assembly line situation at the birthday party, and it all went smoothly. They are 11, so quite capable without me hovering over them. We used a glue gun, so they will need the proper precautions so as not to melt their fingers together!

How to make a Tribal Feather Headdress

All you need are a handful of simple craft items that you may even have around the house, but if not, any local craft store or Amazon will have them.

Supplies:

  • scissors
  • glue gun
  • assorted feathers
  • yarn
  • felt

How to make the feather headdress:

  1. Starting with the felt, cut a strip along the longest end, 1-1.5 inches wide, that will be your base for the headdress.
  2. Lay down the feathers, with shortest in front, put little glue dabs on top, then lay taller feathers on top of that.summer kids craft with feathers
  3. Line glue all up and down the top of the feathers, and create a smaller strip of felt to sandwich the feathers in with even more glue. Make sure the feathers don’t go below the felt on the bottom. This backside part won’t show, so it doesn’t matter too much what it looks like.crafting with kids
  4. With 3 strands of yarn, tie them in a knot at the top, and braid about 2 feet long.
  5. Once the braid is complete, cut it in half, with knots at all 4 ends.
  6. Glue braids on the sides of the felt.Boho Chic tribal Headdress
  7. Tie on your headdress, and go play!
