Sharing our favorite Austin Murals and where to find them!
We’ve lived in Austin for nearly 17 years, and I’ve finally compiled a list of Things to do in Austin with Kids as well as Where to take Austin Skyline pictures.
I have a slight obsession with colorful walls, and when I travel, I try to find a few by doing a wall crawl in that city. I can’t believe I haven’t shared before my favorite Austin Murals, but TODAY IS THE DAY!
All you need if your phone and a trusty phone tripod (or extra person!).
I’ve traveled to the Austin murals here and there over the years, but recently when my kids had a day off from school, and I didn’t want to spend a lot of money, I had the idea to hop around and visit the Austin murals, and take pictures with them as a fun activity.
I pulled up a fun Austin Mural Guide from Carrie Colbert, and had my kids skim through it.  Each of them picked a wall they wanted to visit. I’m also going to share a few of our favorite Austin murals that we have visited in the past.
Austin Street Art
Austin has a lot of great street art. Â A few of the locations we selected were already painted over with new murals. Â And we found a few others along our route.
I mapped out the order we should go, and first was a stop at Kellie’s Baking Co. I love the Texas You’re Here mural outside the front door.
Location:Â Kellie’s Baking Co. 5245 Burnet Rd. Austin, TX 78756
Just a hop, skip, and a jump down the street was this super fun I Love Austin wall:
Location: Austin Simply Fit 5134 Burnet Rd. Austin, TX 78756
My oldest chose the cloud wall that is on the side of an Amy’s Ice Cream on Burnet Road. It’s a popular local ice cream joint people love to frequent. The lighting wasn’t GREAT mid-day and we had to work around a tree on the right, but we snagged this walking picture.
Location: Amy’s Ice Cream 3500 Guadalupe St. Austin, TX 78705
Just RIGHT NEXT to the cloud mural on the left was this fun bright geometric wall. We snapped a few pictures here, too. Both of these would have been better light in the afternoon (at least in February).
Location: Blenders and Bowls 3500 Guadalupe St. Austin, TX 78705
As we were driving up to the cloud mural, I spotted this amazing TEXAS mural a block away on the side of Planet K.  This is a quick walk from Amy’s Ice Cream.  There are actually two murals.  From the street you can see this map of Texas.
Location: Planet K 3700 Guadalupe St. Austin, TX 78705
And on the side, this fun Texas mural.
Location: Planet K 3700 Guadalupe St. Austin, TX 78705
The color block wall below was tricky to photograph. We got lucky that one car left, but as we went to snap a shot, another one had to wait for us to come in.
Location: Birds Barbershop 1902 Congress Ave.
As we drove in the back alley behind Birds Barbershop, I was so excited to spot THIS great  Love from Austin mural.  I had seen pictures of it before, but didn’t know where it was located. It’s on the backside of the barbershop. There is also a Torchy’s Tacos across the street, so stop for lunch while you’re at it!
Location: Prima Dora 1912 S. Congress Ave. Austin, TX 78704
We then traveled a bit north to the Domain shopping center for a mural my older daughter picked, but sadly found it was no longer there. I had spotted this green wall as we looked around, so stopped to snap a few pics!
Location: The Domain // Suit Supply Austin 11701 Domain Blvd. Suite C9.138 Austin, TX; 78758
While you’re at The Domain, head on over to the Erin Condren store and snap a picture with these colorfully beautiful steps!
Location: Erin Condren shop at The Domain
That was the end of the Austin murals that day, but here are a few of our other favorites that we have visited in the past. Not quite a mural, but the Austin blue tile wall is one of my favorites! Just need to dress accordingly.
Location:Â 601 E 5th St, Austin, TX 78701
The Don’t Mess with Texas mural is on a busy 6th street, so tricky to photograph from a great angle.
Location:Â southwest corner of 6th Street and I-35 frontage road
I took my grandparents to the You’re my Butter Half mural, it’s fun and iconic!
Location: Austin United Way 2000 E. Martin Luther King Blvd. Austin, TX 78702
Greetings from Austin. I have a bunch of these shots, but of course I can’t find the full wall picture as I create this Austin Murals guide, so here is a partial shot for now. This one is REALLY popular, and when we drove by the other day, there was a crowd there waiting for pictures.
Location:Â South 1st and Annie (my favorite Gourdough’s doughnuts is nearby, too)
One of my FAVORITES that I cannot find the picture we took with it has a cute polaroid camera and picture, and says “Howdy” which is so cute. Once I find the one with us on it, I’ll swap it out.
Location: Austin Howdy 601 W. 6th St., Austin, TX 78701
