When having a discussion or lesson on weather, I can’t help but think of the beautiful colorful rainbow. My mom’s knick name is Rainy, and she had a custom sewing business back in the day called Rainbow Custom Creations, so I think of her, too! I shared this Graham Cracker Rainbow Weather Snack a few weeks ago at the Crafting Chicks site, and now I share it on my site today! It’s a fun treat that kids can assemble themselves in under 2 minutes!
My youngest daughter loved making these, and mostly eating them!
I altered an idea I saw from a kindergarten site, and got my girls involved in the process.
Here is what you need:
- graham crackers
- blue frosting
- marshmallows
- rainbow airhead
I made them first, to make sure it all went as I thought it would in my head. I used 2 sizes of marshmallows for fun, you can just use one if you’d like.
I found the xtreme airheads at Wal Mart, but if you have trouble with those or the mini mallow bits (also great for hot chocolate), you can get them on Amazon (affiliate links there). I also tinted white frosting with Wilton blue food coloring.
In order for the rainbow airhead to stand up, it helps to have a thicker layer of frosting, and putting the marshmallow clouds down first to “book end” the rainbow and hold it in place. I also trimmed down the rainbow just a touch so it wasn’t too long.
My 6 year old daughter was able to whip hers together, easy, and she thought it was so fun!
She loved the 2 sizes of marshmallows
She also really loved eating her creation!
If you’re talking about weather, or just want to make a fun snack with your kids, try out the Graham Cracker Rainbow Snack!
