These Candy Covered Heart Shaped Brownies are just a little treat we made recently with the kids that I thought I’d share in case anyone wants to order a pan and make some, too! It’s a fun way to spruce up your Valentine’s Day festivities!

Cookie Brownie recipe

I pretty much used the recipe for our favorite Andes Mint Cookies, using red peppermint chocolates instead of the green wafers. They just seemed more brownie-like because they were thicker, so our cookie became a brownie even though we used the same recipe. I’m surely not a dessert blogger. We’re using a cake mix any way, so it’s really up to the person eating to decide what kind of treat it is….cookie…brownie…cake.

Because the pan is already heart shaped, I just smushed in the batter into the heart, and it baked quite nicely.  I maybe could have put a little less in, because it overflowed. I knew it would, thought I went low enough.

I added M&M’s for an extra CRUNCH!

Dessert for Valentine's Day

After cooking them, I let them cool in the pan. I knew they would be smoother on the bottom side, so I popped them out, and flipped them upside down. Then added the peppermint chips.

I put them in the oven to warm for 3-5 minutes, then they were melted enough to spread.
